Default Has anybody been watching/listening to Glastonbury 2013?

Yep, it's that time of year again. Glastonbury Time.

Just a shame that I don't have tickets for this year, the lineup is incredible this time round.

If you are outside the UK, yet still want some of the BBC's live band coverage, I'll try and record it for you and upload it afterwards. If anybody is interested.

For the whole band lineup, etc, go here:

Let me know. I've already got Seasick Steve ready for us, now that was a concert and a half, with John-Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin on Bass and an unknown drummer. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant and today is also day 2 of the Leigh Folk Festival, that's where we are off to this afternoon.

Doesn't anybody on this forum like music?

Turned off the Stones last night, it was worse than embarrassing. A totally pissed Richards who nearly fell over and Jagger squeaking like a 14 year old schoolgirl. Good grief, how embarrassing. Someone please lock the doors of their OAP's home. Please.

On the other hand, the last few bars of the final gig, Mumford & Sons are just drifting across the airwaves, now they are incredible and the 200,000 audience is going absolutely mental.

Uh, um... I must admit that I'd never heard of "Glastonbury" before you mentioned it...

Slipper, may I ask where you are from?

Glastonbury was started in 1971 as an answer you might say to Woodstock in the USA. The first few Festivals were free, despite the organiser not having to pay the farmer for the use of the grounds and thousands of helpers.

Now it is the biggest open air festival in Britain, in fact, just outside a small village called Pilton and right next to Glastonbury Tor, Avalon, the whole Arthurian legend landmarks.

Apart from todays prices, little has changed at this festival, up to and including the good old hippy mentality, dated though it may appear to most.

If you like music, ever come to Britian and be so lucky to be here in late June/early July, I can only urge you to go. Three days of fantastic music, 6 main stages and dozens and dozens of small ones, a circus field, a food field where you can get anything the heart desires but this being the West Country make sure you bring your waterproofs. This years was one of the finest examples of the festival, it only rained on Thursday, the day before the official musical start but even that, announced as a 'passing shower', turned into an 18 hour downpour. LOL

But that does never ever deter anybody when it comes to Glastonbury. It is like strawberries and cream, all part and parcel of the great fun and atmosphere. And that and at least 120 bands are are well worth the visit. Sadly we didn't have tickets for this year but maybe next, I have friends living only a few miles away, so maybe a combination with a relaxing vacation in one the most beautiful and mildest parts of the country might be in order.
