Quote:

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

Enough said i think.
You think? Are you trying to impress us?

Hey hoverfly,

You are guilty for that :) .Your reply mentioning your wife being beautiful touched me and reminded me of this sonnet.

theteach 02-17-2012 08:43 PM

Yes Crazy8 i think, do you? Why on earth would i try to impress people i dont know?

crazy8 02-17-2012 08:46 PM

Why do people post fake stories and pass them on as their own.
People do things.........

Hey you two, keep cool. I love Shakespeare and I didn't care much why arogzi posted it, I thought it was wonderful. If this gets anybody even ever so slightly interested into reading some of Shakespeares work, hey, that would be great in my opinion. After all, he is one of the greatest writers of all time and that's being said by someone originally from Germany and we have a few in those lofty heights.

And thank you for that compliment. I shall happily pass it on or ask her to read it herself. I am sure she will feel flattered.

Hey hoverfly,
i ll really be pleased if your lady reads it and feels flattered, if that ever happens then i ll see it as mission accomplished from my side. That said, i think she already feels flattered by the presence of a guy like u in her life.

As soon as she is back from Norwich I'll point her in the right direction, no problem.

Oh, don't throw flowerpots at me. LOL.

At the end of the day, I think it is me who should feel flattered that she chose me, rather then the other way round. 27 years in April now and it is getting better every day. No bad, bearing in mind that apart from one couple of friends in Germany and a couple here in Britain everybody else got divorced at some point or another.

What probably did help in the end was her level head and that we went through some rough times with her health for years where I played the nurse. All this bonded us together because of what can only be described as being doggedly tenacious.

Don't get me wrong, there were times when I got quite depressed about our situation but there was something that always stopped me from walking out.

I hope that at least one of our daughters inherited that marriage longevity gene from us, I know one hasn't. LOL

Still, thanks for the flowers and I'll show her your this thread when she gets back on Monday.

Hi arogzi and sorry for taking so long to get back to you but it has been a bit of a frantic week around here. Finally she got to have a look at this thread last night. Once we got beyond the 'you're all crazy, wasting your time on the internet' bit, she was rather pleased with the thread after all, especially once she saw that I had taken the precaution of mentioning that I should be the one who ought to be grateful. I think that passage she must have spotted immediately. LOL.

She did like the Shakespeare, that's for sure, allthough her English is not quite there yet to manage without the German translation.

Anyway, her brief and definitive reply went something like this: tell him thank you, a very nice comment but then I deserve it of course having stuck with him (me that is) all these years (insert a brief smile here).

And now I'm off to bed, I am absolutely knackered, I've been working all day (she works in care and one of her clients is moving into sheltered accommodation in London, so she had to pack his whole household all day).

Right, nothing particularly exiting really but she is neither into the internet much beyond it's communication possibilities with our kids abroad and maybe the occassional Skype chat with them. Told you, very level headed, which is probably why she doubles up as my Ministry of Finance. LOL

This is Her Majesty herself, well, somewhat obscured...
