@Virgin: Does it really? What does suck is when I overcook an expensive roasting joint, but that's just my stupidity and I should have paid more attention.

I think it is the simple things in live that give me some of the greatest pleasure. Where we used to live in Germany, we had this red squirrel come to our house every morning about 6am. Now that really made my day. Every day. Just watching him/her perform his antics outside in the garden was pure joy and after feeding 'Red' as he became known, he was a feature of our lives for several years until he vanished one day. Maybe old age, maybe he got run over as he had to cross a road coming to our house.

In the East of England there are unfortunately no reds, just some greys and allthough they are classed as an invasive species driving the reds to extinction, they are beautiful creatures too. There are two that made their home in between the houses somewhere and they visit sometimes, which is nice.

Learn to see the beauty of things, a bit of a lost art in this busy world more concerned about 'shareholder value' then happiness. I like the idea that the King of Bhutan brought before the UN, he suggested that happiness should be one of the things that governments must strive to achieve for their people. Apparently, Bhutanese residents are amongst the happiest in the world. Can't verify that, never been there myself but a country where the head of government even so much as thinks like that does sound good to me.

I just noticed you list travelling as your hobby. Well then, there's a lot to make one happy and cheerful don't you think?

Little pleasures can reap the most enormous benefits I find.
