Unbelievable how gullible some people can be!
Unbelievable how gullible some people can be!
At first I was actually going to post this in the 'Joke' section but these people were serious... This is what I came across on the news pages of the BBC this morning: No evidence of mermaids, says US government There is no evidence that mermaids exist, a US government scientific agency has said. The National Ocean Service made the unusual declaration in response to public inquiries following a TV show on the mythical creatures. It is thought some viewers may have mistaken the programme for a documentary. Sorry folks, it's just a costume "No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found," the service wrote in an online post. The National Ocean Service posted an article last week on its educational website, Ocean Facts. The full BBC News article can be found here: BBC News - No evidence of mermaids, says US government The NOAA response is located here: Are mermaids real? And the Animal Planet programme's website here (inc. a note from the editor, added later, explaining that this was SciFi): Mermaids: The Body Found | Animal Planet | Press Release | Mermaids: The Body Found | Animal Planet Are these people real? We have a saying for this in the UK: thick as two short planks.

Darn. People might be gullible... But the real sad part here is that some government agency spent public funds on this rather than on something useful.

Well, I don't think posting that short reply was too expensive, though at the end of the day I guess you are right.
Education could prove to be a useful area to spend some money on, at least judging by this story. LOL
